Happy New Year

28 Dec

It is Muharram again so lets look back at our tattered looking future plans which we drew a year ago and revise them to suit the situations we got ourselves into and the changes in the world.

For a start, try reading the Doa for the beginning of the year. Then start mapping out the daily plans, weekly plans, monthly plans and yearly plan…

Selamat Menyambut Muharram!

glad to have you as my friend

27 Dec

We lie on the met as we just chat or enjoy the silence as the breeze lull us to sleep. I bore you with my tales of travel as usual but you listened patiently as i went on and on.

Indeed it was a relaxing day and all we did was rest, besides the short badminton doubles and cycling for a short time. We bicker as usual on the hammock, had refreshing ice cream, or should i say ice!

It’s always good when it’s over

25 Dec

I absolutely dont mean that my Finland trip was not good but at the end, all the bad memories will be blocked out of our minds and we will conclude that it was the best thing that ever happened to you.

For example, when you go through a difficult time in you life, you’d say it was good experience because you gone through with it. Think about all other things in your life and you’d realise that.

I miss the snow; snowed so much when i left Lappeenranta.

Back to norm, i start thinking to myself what would be fun to do…

It is like im stuck in the past, i feel that Hari Raya is coming. Weird eh? Because i missed it i guess and you should come and see my house now and you’d arrive to the same conclusion.

When i sleep, i still think about my apartment.

Time.

Interesting.

Finland is 6 hours slower and even their lifestyle is slower. My teacher once told her own tale of her experience when she returned to Finland afterliving in the US for few years, she realised that everything was slow. People talked so slowly and moved slowly etc. She didnt even recognise hee mother tongue, Finnish.

So some pictures before i left…

Home alas but…

23 Dec

My body is aching like i just did my napfa, fact is i just reached home after travelling for 28 hours.

It wasnt non stop but i didnt have much proper rest in between like while transitting in Frankfurt or the 12 hour flight home.

Euphoria at having to finally reach home. While waiting patiently at the belt 16 for my bag to come out so that i could go out and hug my mum and never let go, an uncomfortable thought came to my mind. What if it didnt come out? I shook it off.

It never came.

I reported it missing. It’s status is now being tracked.

I walked out calmly as i saw the 4 people waiting for me, friends and family. Tears streamed down my cheeks, chubbier than when i left. I didnt feel how i was supposed to feel because my thoughts were jumbled with the missing baggage and alas reaching home. I brushed against the rough unshaven cheeks of my brother. N came forward to give me a comforting hug, followed by R, her always smiling face made me feel better. She is always happy, good for you 🙂

N suggested i sat d0wn for a while while i caught my breath. My dear A called as soon as i touched down and R, couldnt come on time. Bro number 1 came and i gave him a warm hug. After chatting, we headed home.

As i sat on the rocking chair, tears rolled down again. I couldnt control how i felt. I didnt know what to do. My mum asked why, i said what i truly meant, i didnt know.

I just continued to cry till i find the reason why; think i found it.

Hope i’d find the luggage that easily too 🙂

That was dinner in Madina Desi, an indian restaurant.

It was the next morning when i left to go back to Finland.

I really like Dublin. It has much similarity to Singapore and English was the first language which is cool. People are really helpful, some go out of the way to help you. Airport was super good because it was an International one unlike most airports Ryan air flies to. No need for airport transfers so just like 2 euros to get to the city centre by public transport.

I absolutely love it when he U bahn (metro) is right under the airport or at least near enough and dont require expensive airport transfers.

Another DOM. They are just everywhere arent they???

Another DOM. They are just everywhere arent they???Christmas is just around the corner so these markets are unavoidable...there was no where else to go so i walked through this place.

I went to Cologne because i wanted to go back to Finland and Germanwings only fly there, which is closest to Frankfurt so i could go to Hahn to catch a flight back.

So i stayed somewhere for the night and at 5.45am took the bus from Cologne to Hahn airport where i impatiently waited for my flight back to Finland.

I guess those who follow my blog would have heard about the cancellation of flight so i changed direction and headed to Dublin. Not almost unwillingly but 101% unwillingly.

I wanted to go home so badly!!! Too tired after that long enjoyable trip.

Well stay tuned for Dublin. I really loved the place, i did nothing special but it was a pleasant time a had there. People you meet always have an impact on you and seeing something that interest you makes your heart grow fonder of that place. That was what Dublin hold for me. Also somewhere i could live. Just a thought 🙂

farewell again …

That is A and me! I was wearing the scarf i knit, she taught me to.

That is A and me! I was wearing the scarf i knit, she taught me to.

All of her luggage.

All of her luggage.

We waited for the cab to come and take her to the bus station but it didnt turn up. We were still wating when we saw the German girls coming along, one of them was also heading to the nearer bus station to get to Vantaa airport. So off we went together!

Waited in the freezing morning, it was half past seven but the sky was still so dark. When the bus came, we exchanged hugs and we waved them goodbye.

Only then i realised how fast time flew. All i was thinking was to get away from here as fast as i could but i didnt realise how much i will miss all these. I will miss A so very much, my first and most wonderful room mate!

I will miss all our late night chats.

I will miss those supermarket trips to all the various places.

I will miss having someone to share internet with.

I will miss someone who so patiently listen to my  long stories about my trips and watch me display all the photos as i tell the tales.

I will miss the person who shared the most of what i experienced in Finland, good and bad.

I wish her a good journey back home to her brother she misses so much! He is a cute little boy 🙂

People were nice.

I arrived late at night by bus from Mostar. It was empty, the streets were. I wandered with a little map looking for my hostel which i found after 30 minutes. Glad it was a clean one and had a good rest before the morning when i got to run some errands.

Made it quick, got onto a mini van to the airport. That explains the few pictures, i got only the morning to see little of it.

Desperate Housewives

16 Dec

When people say, watching tv is a waste of time. I beg to differ, it always depend on waht you are watching of course.

Been watching alot of movies lately due to boredom here. Suddenly i came across Desperate Housewives Season 5 and i thought, i got a lot to catch up on.

When they were screening Season 3, i was so busy that i got to watch a few episodes only and this is something i really dont like to miss. It is a No.#1 serial. The best!

It is not just about the daily lives of housewives in Suburbia but blown up 5 times. I love the beginning and ending where, Mary Alice, the narrator will account in summary about what had happened. Sometimes what she narrates has so much resemblance to our ordinary lives.

I cant say much more. You can get more thought by watching! 🙂

Have fun! That explains my absense in the blogosphere.

Sovenoir shopping

13 Dec

Amazingly, the prices of some really nice Finnish things, hand-made, were like 3 times higher than the last time we went there. So we went to the supermarket instead.

I love supermarket shopping so much. We went to Prisma today, it’s huge! No surprise though, Lidl, Euromarket and Antilla are all huge but i love Prisma.  Oh, they have this Candy King thing which a huge display og candy and chocolate to choose from. I thought to make the last few days of my stay in Finland good so i bought a wide variety of them. Gosh! I love chocolates!

I even bought my first and last tub of ice-cream. Suklaa ice cream…I never really spend unnecessarily here the past few months, so since i have few more days, Insyallah…got to splurge a little. 🙂 To think of it, maybe i wont be able to finish the tub of ice-cream, wish my brothers were here to help me out a little.

So here are some photos taken when we went to the museum cum shop to get a few sovenoirs ending up with none.

Some view eh? Near my apartment actually.
