milo mish mash

20 Aug

I saw the milo truck in school twice in this week 😦

Memories of drinking milo with him in school. I used to get so excited, run and go grab a cup of milo of myself. He used to want more than just a cup. He likes it because its free haha and of course because milo is just so nice :):)

Everywhere i go on campus, memories of him flood my mind. Why cant we be studying in Uni at the same time? But i guess, God is the best of planners. We wouldnt have what we do now if i went on another path, would we?

*wishful thinking* He should have continued working in school. Haha!

Milo…

the breakfast cereal

the energy boster

the whatever-else-crap they would say just to make people buy it.

For us, Asians, it’s a special drink, no? One that we drink since young. One that, i recently found out, people can be addicted to. (both my fellow ex-colleagues must have their doses of milo once a day)

When i was far from home, in Finland, i had with me a big packet of milo with nestum from home. I saved it till the very last few days before i had to return to Singapore. Actually its not like i miss milo so much but you know its a nice drink to have especially in that kind of weather, i dont really drink tea or coffee so much.

I remember they used to sell hot chocolate in my school there and we’d get it once in a while, me and my room mate. One can get Milo in Asian or African stores in Helsinki and other bigger cities.

*Wishful thinking* Sometimes, i wonder what it would have been like if we were in Finland together even though we were in different cities, him in Espoo and me in Lappeenranta. I went to Helsinki around 5 times during the time i was there. It would have been nice to know someone than not knowing anyone. We could have even travelled together…

Hmm…dreaming a little…Adilah said it was ok to dream 🙂 hehe

guess what we had for sahur?

Ramadhan Mubarak

13 Aug

In the name of Allah, the most Merciful, the most Kind

A blessed month is casting its shadow upon us
A night of this month is better than a thousand months
Bear with patience for the sake of Ar-Rahman
It’s a continuous training to strengthen our Imaan.

Glory be to Allah who sent Ramadan as a mercy to mankind
Its a purification of our soul, our heart, and our mind
With the most sincere devotion and love we fast
To be cleansed and free from sins of the past

Glorified is He, who choseth this holy month,
To test our sabr and fill our hearts with warmth
Of his Divine Light, His blessings shall glow,
The Seer of the unseen, all He does know

Ya Allah! For thee, let my breath be more pleasant than musk
Ya Allah! For thee, let me be thankful when day turns to dusk
My thoughts and heart are purified, my eyes truly see…
This blessed month, the month of spiritual rhapsody!

Ya Allah! For thee, my life I shall live!
Ya Allah! For thee, my soul I shall give!
In the name of Allah, the most Merciful, the most Kind,
Praise be to Allah, who sent Ramadan as a gift to mankind

One night I heard a knock on my door;
Who can it be,I wasn’t quite sure.
I open the door and am filled with glee;
The visitor ahead is no stranger to me.

I welcome the guest with utmost delight;
For I know it has come to give me respite.
An air of happiness fills the space;
My home now seems, a better place!

Have you any clue who this visitor could be?
Yes!its Ramadhan,the month of mercy.
The pious and righteous can’t await its arrival;
Others seem to greet it, with waves of denial.

For Allah(SWT) we fast from dawn to dusk;
For Him our breath is the fragrance of musk.
The muslims who pray and fast with zest;
Are aware of the rewards of this month manifest.

Throughout this month we weep and repent;
Now is the time to strongly lament.
And those who shun this sacred month;
on the Day of Reckoning will face the brunt.

In the last ten nights,hides the Night of Decree;
Allah(SWT) then awaits for his slaves to plea.
The angels descend with Gabriel(AS) in the lead;
To check on the steadfast and record every deed.

A feeling of grief now fills my heart;
As the month of Ramadhan will soon depart.
So lets make a start and worship Him alone;
Now that the worth of this month is known.

Do reflect on this wonderful statement…

“A man came to the Prophet, and asked him to compare the life in this world, to the life in the hereafter,” my uncle said. “The Prophet said to [the man] ‘If you dip your finger into the ocean, and take it out, the water left on your finger is like this world, and what’s left in the ocean is what’s still to come.”

Does religion work for you the punishment way or rewards way? You must pray or you will enter hell fire or you must pray so you can enter paradise? We all have our own ways of convincing ourselves to carry out religious or even simple daily deeds…May Allah guide us all 🙂 Ameen.

debrief of the island getaway :)

2 Aug

For the rest of the photos, i feel it is better to just post on facebook 🙂 So do visit me there!

People of Tioman:

There are pretty nice and friendly, dont bother us much, which is good when you’re on a holiday. The snorkel man was nice enough to look after our bag when we snorkelled, he carried it on his shoulder and walked around. Haha! Imagine him carrying my purple girly bag…haha…

Paya Beach Resort:

You know what i liked the most? The egg man! Hehe he fries omelette and bulls eye and whatever other types of egg for you, he does the flipping of egg as well! So cool 🙂  hehe now you know why i always go take the egg? Got show to watch.

Besides that, i think the room always feels sandy. Aircon was good. Place not so clean because i found a toddler cockroach on my towel! Like ewww! Bed is comfy and service is pretty good, we asked them to clean the room and they did.

Food:

Oh, isnt it everyone’s favourite 😉 It was good, since its Malaysia.

Started with prata before reaching Tioman.

King Burger, our first meal there, the burger man was nice too but we only saw him once sadly.

Breakfast at the resort was good, great variety, besides the egg man of course, he is the best! *ok…i might be exaggerating a little but it’s for a good reason, i want you guys to go to Tioman and snorkel before it is banned. See, such a nobel reason*

Nasi goreng, nasi goreng paprik, goreng pisang, nasi goreng pattaya, nasi goreng kampung, noodles….looks like we had nasi goreng all along!

Activity:

Urm urm…you get the idea, we didnt do much because we are slackers!

We just snorkelled one morning. The experience was cool; we saw many types of fishes, a little scary when i saw the bigger fishes so near. The water was dirty though still quite clear, a lot of dry leaves. After snorkelling at Marine Park, we went to Renggis Island, this little island where we saw more fishes and coral reefs!

Nice and all but i still prefer snorkelling in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah where the corals were so much more beautiful and colourful, i even saw nemo!
